Today’s modern cars often tell us what’s wrong by flashing a check engine light. But what happens when the check engine light malfunctions and other things, like your gas gauge, malfunction? The super sleuths at Craftsman in Fairfax quickly found the culprit: a frayed and shorted wire in an obscure harness hidden above and partially behind the gas tank – not exactly the kind of repair a shade-tree mechanic like me might find in a thousand years. It’s possible a small animal like a driveway squirrel may have mistaken the harness for an acorn. Anyway, thanks to Craftsman, a simple harness replacement saved the day and probably a ton of dough had I taken my car elsewhere. I would have given six instead of five stars if they only had Splenda or some other sugar substitute at the Keurig coffee bar. 🙂
