I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee still “alive” at 103K miles. Like any older vehicle, it started to rattle here and there — especially after a Chrysler dealership induced me to install a new catalytic converter. That was 3 years ago. Despite numerous returns to two different dealerships in MD and VA, no Jeep branded service center was able to identify and “fix” the problem. Upon seeing Craftsman locating to my neighborhood of McLean, I decided to see if they could handle the problem. Am I glad I did. What the brand name service shops couldn’t handle (while still charging exorbitant rates for “nothing”) Craftsman was able to expeditiously diagnose and remediate a less than professional install of the catalytic converter three years earlier by a Jeep dealer. While the vehicle was on the lift they also noted several small leaks coming from the oil pan and the rear transmission (both “serviced” by a Jeep dealer less than 2 years and 3000 miles earlier) and likewise took care of the problem. My Jeep is ready to go for another 2 years and ? thousands of miles; but at a reliability level it probably hasn’t seen since the original factory warranty expired. My advice: unless you’re captive to a dealership service shop because of a warranty or service contract, save yourself trouble and frustration and give Craftsman a try. I am pretty sure you won’t regret it. If you want to drive knowing your vehicle is in the best condition it can be under the circumstances, let Craftsman have your back.
